Curriculum Highlights:
The PK 2 Curriculum is carefully structured
to promote intellectual, social, and physical growth:
- Recognize and identify numbers
- Develop and use vocabulary related to different themes
- Recognize and identify shapes and sizes, including squares, circles, rectangles, triangles, ovals, and diamonds
- Develop pencil and crayon grip and learn to trace vertical and horizontal lines, zigzags, waves, and curves
- Students learn to identify the colors and color images using specific shapes
- Recognize and complete patterns
- Match images that are the same
- Follow simple directions
- Engage in hands-on experiences
- Participate in daily routines, including circle time, storytelling, music and movement, and arts and crafts activities
- Seek and learn to ask for assistance
PK 3 to KG Curriculum:
The SABIS® Preschool program is an integrated early education program that allows students to engage in thematically linked English, Math, Science, Music, and Art activities through hands-on learning opportunities. On a daily basis, students interact with others, listen to stories being read, participate in creative reading, and take part in experimental activities that enhance their speaking skills, self-confidence, relationship with others, and fine motor skills.
Through interactive activities, students learn about the world around them and start to make meaning of it. Students learn how to organize their resources, how to manipulate classroom resources such as pencils, crayons, paintbrushes, and sponges, and how to express themselves clearly.
Through the SABIS® Pre-school program,
students gradually learn about the classroom environment,
allowing them to transition smoothly into Level A.
Level A
The aim of the SABIS® English program in Level A is to ensure students demonstrate an understanding of the basic features of print, develop phonological awareness, blend sounds and decode words, and read emergent texts with fluency and understanding. The program also aims to develop confident learners who are able to express their needs and communicate effectively with their teacher and peers.
Students in Level A will be able to:
- Identify and say initial and final letters and one letter sounds
- Recognize and name all lowercase and uppercase letters of the alphabet
- Trace dotted lines and curves from top to bottom, left to right
- Trace and write lowercase and uppercase letters
- Read emergent texts using illustration clues, phonics sounds, and knowledge of high frequency words
- Demonstrate an understanding of the world around them by identifying items and words related to various topics
- Express themselves and listen to what others have to say
- Begin to develop clear, fluent, and legible handwriting
Level B
The aim of the SABIS® English program in Level B is to ensure students demonstrate an understanding of the basic features of print, develop phonological awareness, blend sounds and decode words, and read emergent texts with fluency and understanding.
The program also aims to develop confident learners who are able to express their needs and communicate effectively with their teacher and peers.
Students in Level B will be able to:
- Identify and say initial and final letters and one letter sounds
- Sound out the initial, medial vowel, r-controlled vowels, and initial and final consonant blends in (CVC, CCVC, and CVCC) words
- Recognize and name all lowercase and uppercase letters of the alphabet
- Trace dotted lines and curves from top to bottom, left to right
- Trace and write lowercase and uppercase letters, words, phrases, and sentences from left to right, including sight words and words related to phonics sounds
- Read words, phrases, and sentences from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page with fluency and expression
- Read emergent texts using illustration clues, phonics sounds, and knowledge of high frequency words
- Demonstrate an understanding of the world around them by identifying items and words related to various topics
- Express themselves and listen to what others have to say
- Develop clear, fluent, and legible handwriting
Level C
The aim of the SABIS® English program in Level C is to ensure students read and write independently and communicate orally with the teacher and those around them with confidence and understanding.
Students in Level C will be able to:
- Sound out the initial, medial vowels, r-controlled vowels, long vowels, diagraphs, diphthongs, and initial and final consonant blends in words
- Sound out and decode words
- Sound out (CVC, CCVC, and CVCC) words
- Decode and spell phonetic and high frequency sight words
- Read words, phrases, and sentences from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page with fluency and expression
- Read fluently simple texts using illustration clues, phonics sounds, knowledge of high frequency words, and basic punctuation rules
- Speak confidently and listen to what others have to say
- Trace and write lowercase and uppercase letters, words, phrases, and sentences from left to right, including sight words and words related to phonic sounds
- Develop clear, fluent, and legible handwriting
- Write for a range of purposes and audiences
